M.Sc. Student

I’m a master student under the supervision of Dr. Tongli Wang. I completed my undergraduate study in Beijing Forestry University. During that time, I was involved in several research projects including “Genetic diversity of Armeniaca sibirica (L.) Lam. in Inner Mongolia by SCoT molecular marker system”; “Effect of UV on the expression of transcription factor VcMYB21 and anthocyanin content of blueberry” and published an essay on “First Report of Sunflower Charcoal Rot Caused by Macrophomina Phaseolina in Jilin and Inner Mongolia, China”. During 2017 summer, I worked as an interpreter for technical collaboration in the potato industry for CARAH (Belgium). Meanwhile, I also studied in Dr. Loren Rieseberg’s lab as an exchange student for one year to assist DNA extraction lab work in a sunflower evolution project.

Experience led my interest in plant genomics, evolutionary process and bioinformatics. More specifically, my master research focuses on exploring the genetic variation in lodgepole pine driven by climate variables. I am using the lodgepole pine SNP data generated from the AdapTree project completed in Aitken’s lab and the climate data from ClimateNA to model the underlying relationship between genomic variation and climate variables using machine-leaning approaches. My project would contribute to a better understanding of climate adaptation of forest tree species and provide information for developing forest adaptive strategies.
